'I founded StudioU just before I turned 19 years old, in early 2024. The studio is a huge part of my life, and gave (and continues to give) me something to focus on and be proud of.
For those of you who might not know, I'm disabled and chronically ill with a variety of neuro-endocrine conditions, and also recovering from a stroke that left me with hemiparesis and homonymous hemianopsia (left sided weakness/paralysis and visual field loss). Having a creative outlet to pour my aspirations and dreams into has proven to be a major help to my mental health, and I love nothing more than sharing what I love with likeminded people. Minecraft, and architecture as a whole, is my "jam", and has been for well over a decade now. As part of an interest that has weathered a number of life's storms alongside me over the years, I couldn't be more thankful to the Minecraft developers, and wider community, for producing a platform that allows its players to bring their imaginations to life.
StudioU is my way of giving back to a player-base that has given me so much. If I can spark joy in a single person's life, as fellow members of the community have sparked joy in mine, then one of my main goals for the studio is complete.
To reach that aspiration, the plan is to inject projects full of colour and positive energy into the official Minecraft Marketplace. Quality matters more than anything else, though, and so you'll *never* find our studio releasing a product that we (not just me, but everyone involved in the process!) are not proud of, or happy with. We hate low-effort content just as much as the next player, and promise never to fall into that category.
On a personal level, my ultimate goal through both my individual Minecraft content and StudioU is to raise awareness for accessibility in gaming. Unfortunately, many disabled people find it hard to get into the pastime due to physical restrictions. And while in recent years there have been signs of vast improvement in terms of accessibility in the wider gaming community, unfortunately we still have a rather long way to go. I firmly believe that everyone, no matter who they are, should be able to benefit from the advantages of playing video games.
Therefore, I promise to do everything in my power to help this cause, now and in the future.
I hope that you'll join me for this journey!
But for now, stay safe, stay hydrated and have an awesome day, lovely!'
'I'd like to do everything in my power to raise awareness for the following charities, and help them on their journeys to help others. Some of these have helped me personally, whereas others I'd like to support on a more general basis. I have also included links to their respective websites, so you can find out more about them - if you're interested.'
